THREE questions! THANKS SO MUCH for any help!

A non-resistive coil is connected in series with a 100 ohm resistor and a 110V, 60Hz AC voltage source. What is the inductance if the voltage reading across the resistor is 50V?

A 150mH inductor is in a circuit with a 60Hz voltage source and a current of 1.6A is measured on a VOM. (a) what is the voltage of the source? (b) what is the phase angle between the current and the voltage?

A series RLC circuit has components with these values: 50ohm, 0.15H and 20uF. The circuit is driven by a 120V, 60Hz source. What is the power loss of the circuit as a percentage of its power loss when in resonance?

Explanation / Answer

a) i = V/R = 50/100 = 0.5 A

Req = V/i = 110/0.5 = 220 ohms

R coil = sqrt(220^2 - 100^2) = 195.959 ohms ;

w*L = 195.959

w=2*pi*f = 120*pi ;

L = 0.5197 H = 519.8 mH

2)

Reactance = wL = 56.55 ohms ;

a) V= i*Reacatance = 90.477 V

b) 90 degrees

3)

cos theta = (wL - 1/wC)/Z = 0.835

Power Loss = 1793.8 W

Power Loss % = 1-0.835 = 16.43 %
