Where in the operon might the mutation in this strain occur and why? in the CAP binding site, where the mutation leads to the inefficiency of RNA polymerase activity in the lacl gene, which leads to an inactive lac repressor near the lacl gene, where the mutation leads to increased levels of lac repressor being made in the operaor region, where the mutaion leads to the falure of the operator o normaly bint the repressor operon, where the mutation leads to the failure of the RNA in the promoter region of the polymerase to bind to the promoter L in the operator region, which leads to increased binding of the lac repressor to the operator Previous Check Answer Next Ext Hint

Explanation / Answer

There are two situations in which the above mentioned situation can be observed.

1) in the lacL gene which leads to inactive repressor (OPTION 2)

2) In the operator region, where the mutation leads to the failure of operator to normally bind the repressor (OPTION4)
