Question

Answer the following questions and show how you obtained the answer as simply as possible because I do not understand

Manx trait in cats results in shortened or absent tails. Cats that do not have anx trait developed full length or normal tails. A breeder crosses two cats the M with the Manx trait, and observes the following in the Fi generation: 266 Manx tail 134 Normal tail a. b. What type of specific inheritance pattern do these data indicate? What is the genotype of Manx cat? In the pearl millet plant, color is determined by three alleles: Rp' (red), Rp Rp>rp. Based on this (purple) and rp (green). The dominance hierarchy is Rp information answer the following questions: a. b. Give all possible genotypes that can result from these alleles Giv e the expected phenotypes and ratios expected from the following cross: Rp'Rpx Rp'Rp Radishes can be red, purple or white. Radish shape can be long or oval. Several plants with red, long radishes were crossed to plants that produce white oval radishes. All of the Fi plants produced purple long radishes. When the Fi were selfed, the following F2 phenotypes were observed. Considering the data, determine whether the following statements are true or false: 3/16 red, long 1/16 red, oval 6/16 purple, long 2/16 purple, oval 3/16 white, long 1/16 white, oval The information provided suggests that 3 alleles control root shape in the radish. The mode of inheritance of root color in the radish can best be described as multiple co-dominant inheritance. Purple radishes are true breeding A purple radish x white radish cross is a back cross. a. b. c. d.

Explanation / Answer

Ans 1 :

a) The manx tail genotype is probbaly heterzygous since it does not breed pure.

Now when the two heterozygous genotypes are crossed , the phenotypic ratio observed is 3 : 1 .

Since here the phenotypic ratio observed is 2 : 1 , so there is mutation causing the lethal allele ,as suggested by the inheritance pattern

b) So if the dominant allele be A and recessive be a , so the genotype of Manx will be Aa and that of normal phenotype will be AA , and the aa genotypic individuals will not survive.
