Question

n your second assignment of this course, you should describe what you thought about and believed about climate change before taking this class and what you think and believe now. Have your thoughts on climate change differed? Why or why not? Do you think climatechange is a natural process or are humans greatly causing it? Why do you think the topic ofclimate change is still so controversial today? How has any possible climate change impacted your local region? What do you think will happen with climate change in the future? Do you think humans can limit climate change?

Explanation / Answer

Climate change refer to statistical distribution of the change in weather pattern over a period of time.

Climate chage is a natural process which happens gradually over a period of time but in the current scenario the climate change is happening very fast because of the human activities such as deforestation, green house gas emmission, fossil fuel combustion they are the major cause of change in climate patterns globally. The global warming is today global concern leading to increase in the earth's temperature cause glaciers to melt and will be a reason for increased floods.

Climate change is still a controversial topic because of different views of ecocentric, technocentric and anthropocentric people. The people action towards the nature are influenced by the religious and political thoughts.

For example the India is experiencing the climate chage from past 50 years the mansoon rainfall has been reduced. The change in mansoon patterns are the major reason for the draught and floods. The 2.5°C increase in temperature causing the glaciers to melt. In Himalayas the snow covering the mountain peaks are expected to threaten the stability and reliability of northern India’s primarily glacier-fed rivers, particularly the Indus and the Brahmaputra.

If the climate change will keep on in future it will lead to loss of biodiversity. The natural resources (such as potable water )will replinish which are necessary for survival of a population. The climate changes can lead to increase in chemical toxin in the environment can leads to many life threatning diseases. The irregular weather pappers will be normanl, floods and draught will be more.

Human can limit the climate change by the following actions -

1. Reforestation, 2. Less green house emission, 3 - Burning of less fossil fuel ( can opt for car pooling or public transport to reduce the fossil fuel combustion), 4 - Adding of sewage to water body after treatment, 5- Reduce the use of plastic. 6- By implimenting on RESUSE, REDUCE and RECYCLE.
