Question

Please show all work and equations:

A particle moves along a circular path over a horizontal xy coordinate system, at constant speed. At time t1 = 4.90 s, it is at point (5.20 m, 5.80 m) with velocity (3.60 m/s) jhat and acceleration in the positive x direction. At time t2 = 13.3 s, it has velocity (-3.60 m/s) ihat and acceleration in the positive y direction. What are the (a) x and (b) y coordinates of the center of the circular path? Assume at both times that the particle is on the same orbit. Number Units Numbers Units

Explanation / Answer

angle = w x t = (v/r) t

2 x pi /3   = (3.60/r) x (13.3 - 4.90)

r = 14.44 m

centre = x = 5.20 + 14.44 = 19.64 m

y = 5.80 m
