Question

SECOND SITUATION:

"An object of mass 'M' is suspended as shown. The entire system rotates around a vertical axis with constant speed such that when the spring is stretched                    the string is perfectly vertical"

Part 1: Find the elastic force in the spring in case A as a function of the mass m

Part 2: Find the elastic force in the spring in case B, considering that the distance from object M to the axis of rotation is R and the system rotates                    with a constant speed v.

***Please show all steps/workso that I can learn how to solve similar problems. Also I would appreciate it if someone drew the free body diagrams for the situation as well, or just mentioned the direction of the forces, I'm having trouble picturing it...

"An object of mass 'M' is suspended as shown in the figure below. A smaller mass 'm' is hanging over an ideal pulley such that it stretched the spring and when the object is in equilibrium the hanging string is perfectly vertical"

Explanation / Answer

since stationary T = mg

and then F elastic = mg

b)
now spring provides centripetal force
now F elsatic = Mv^2/R
