Question
Explanation / Answer
Redwood sorrel(Oxalos orefana) is an understory hurb which inhabit in low light and moist environments. It grows mostly in coastal areas. It is grown vast in coastal areas because the leaves of this plants are edible. One of the unique nature if the plant is that the seeds of this plants show resistant to fire but not the the plant. So for the rotation of the plant controled burns are made. The seeds which survive show seedlings and grow into complete plant. The leaf patterns of this plant is polymorphic where the seedlings and adults show one of this two patterns (stripped leaves and blotched leaves). This leaf polymorphism is controlled by a single gene which contains two alleles ( L1 and L2). In my study about two redsorrl observed as (shady woods and big timber) plants were studied. So burns were made in 2012 and searched for seedlings exhaustively and the seeslings were counted and the leaf patterns were characterised. The genetic work also conducted to distinguish the L1 and L2 plants. From the table in 2012 it was observed rhat about 8041 seedlings were observed which is shady woods site with stripped leaves and 31 seedlings of big timber were observed (L1and L2), 1398 seedlings of shady woods site with blotched leavese were observed and 969 of big timber were observed (L1 and L2). 61 seedlings of blot hed leaves of shady woods and 7600 of big timber were observed (L2 and L2). After 2012 the burn was made but there were no emergence of seeslings. Later the burn was made in 2017 and the seeslings were counted. It was found thasurvived.3912 shady woods site plants with striped leaves were survived and 15 big timber were survived(L1 and L1). About 1306 shady woods and 922 big timber with blotched leaves (L1and L2 ) were survived. About 57 shady leaves and 7235 big timber with blotched leaves(L2andL2) were survived. By this we found that shady woods site plants with striped leaves were survived more than the blotched leaves and became reproductively mature andamong the blotched leaves of shady woods that is between (L1L2) and (L2L2) the L1L2 shown more reproductivity. In case of big timber site plant blotched leaves with L2L2 type shown reproductivity than other. Between striped and blotched (L1L2) leaves, the blotched leaves shown more reproductivity and survival.
