Question

Hi please help w this question w the exact numbers as given in the problem. Thanks:)

Question DetailsOSColPhys1 3.P.054.WA. [2439438] A large building has an inclined roof. The length of the roof is 32.5 m and the angle of the roof is 20.0 degree below horizontal. A worker on the roof lets go of a hammer from the peak of the roof. Starting from rest, it slides down the entire length of the roof with a constant acceleration of 3.35 m/s2. After leaving the edge of the roof, it falls a vertical distance of 30.0 m before hitting the ground. How much time does it take the hammer to fall from the edge of the roof to the ground? How far horizontally does the hammer travel from the edges of the roof until it hits the ground?

Explanation / Answer

at edge of roof v^2 = 2 a x

v = sqrt(2*3.35*32.5)=14.76 m/s

y direcion

y = y0 + v0y t +1/2 a t^2

0 = 30 - 14.76*sin(20)*t - 0.5*9.81*t^2

t=2.01 s

now x direction
x = v0x t

x = 14.76*cos(20)*2.01=27.88 m
