Question
HI, can someone please show me exactly how to figure this out? I need step by step instructions. The person to answer the question fully will get the points.
A car has constant acceleration from 12 m/s to 21 m/s in 6.0 s. What is its acceleration? How far did it travel in this time?
This seems like it should be simple, but this is my first time taking a physics course. So the help is much appreciated. I need a breakdown of how to figure it out. Don't assume I know anything.
Use the correct values or I won't score you.
Explanation / Answer
acceleration , a = (v-u)/t = (21-12)/6 = 1.5m/s/s
v= final velocity = 21m/s
u = initial velocity = 12m/s
t = time = 6sec
distane travelled = u*t + 0.5 * a * t *t
12*6 +0.5*1.5*6*6 = 99m
