Question
Select which of the following statements are True or False. Assume Newtonian Mechanics.
1. The acceleration of an object is same in all inertial reference frames.
2. A particle's kinetic energy can change without having any net work done it.
3. The power required to lift a mass does not depend on the speed at which the mass is raised.
4. The work required to lift a mass one meter depends on the speed at which it is raised..
5. A simple machine cannot reduce the work required to do a task.
6. The work done by a constant force acting on an object is equal to the magnitude of the force times the distance the object moves.
I've already tried:
1. T 1. T 1.T
2. F 2. F 2.F
3. F 3. T 3.T
4. F 4. F 4.F
5. F 5.F 5.T
6. F 6. F 6. T
Explanation / Answer
1.False- accel. is not same in all intertial frame.suppose u r on a accelarating train.then for ur frame of reference accelaration of train will be zero.
2.True-KE can be converted into PE energy dirctly. e.g. moving ball in upward direction.in this case KE is changing without any work done on it.
3.False-it depends.P=F.V
4.Fale- W=F.S distance matters but speed doesn't
5.True- it only reduces effort i.e. reduces only force
6. False - it is not simply product......it is dot product......force multiplied distance in the direction of force
