-8+1.4i+5i+1.6i+16+9i = 0

i = -8/17= -0.47A

i = 0.47A(anticlockwise)

current in 9 ohms = 0.47*9=4.23V

new voltage in 9 ohms = 1.9 V

new current = 1.9/9 = 0.211 A

the resistance is

-8+(R+1.6+1.4+9)(-0.211)+16 = 0

(12+R)(-0.211)= -8

12 + R = 8/0.211

12+R = 38

R = 38-12 = 26 ohms
