Question
A 8-V battery is connected through a switch to two identical resistors and an ideal inductor, as shown in the figure. Each of the resistors has a resistance of 137 ?, and the inductor has an inductance of 5 H. The switch is initially open. (Assume positive current runs downward, from top to bottom.)
(d) After a long time (> 10 s), the switch is opened again. Immediately after the switch is opened, what is the current in resistor R1 and in resistor R2?
i1 = -.0548394
i2 = -.0548394
(e) At 50 ms after the switch is opened, what is the current in resistor R1 and in resistor R2?
i1 = -.00377 A
i2 = -.00377 A
Please help! For D, I got -.0548394 but i1 is correct and i2 is wrong. For part e, I got -.00377 and again i only got i1 right. What am I doing wrong?
Explanation / Answer
the question cannot be answered as the figure is not given and the distribution and resistors and inductors is not specified.
