b) At the start of the tape, the dots are close together. As the object falls, the dots get further apart. What does this tell you about the velocity of the object with respect to time?

a) the spark comes at a constant time interval, so the average speed between two spots is the distance divided by the time between consecutive sparks. For eample, if the machine sparks ten times per second and two burn marks are 2cm apart, the average speed is 0.02m/0.1s = 0.2 m/s b) the burn marks get further apart because the object goes farther and farther during each time interval. This means that the object is spedding up as it falls. This means that it is accelerating.
