Question
144 Oxygenic Photosynthesis What effect does the absorption of light energy have on the chemical properties of chlorophyll (particularly P680)? Oxygenic photosynthesis is also referred to as (cyclic, non-cyclic) photosynthesis. Circle one ATP synthesis occurs via which mechanism? A. Substrate Level Phosphorylation What is the electron donor in oxygenic photosynthesis? B. Generation of a membrane potential Other information you need to acquire (Brock section # (13.2) When did oxygenic photosynthesis first occur on earth? What types of organisms were responsible? Were they eukaryotic or prokaryotic? (15.3) Name three genera of cyanobacteria. 2. 3. (18.15) Name three genera of green algae. 2. (15.3) Cyanobacteria play an important role in the environment, transforming atmospheric N2 into combined nitrogen compounds like amino acids. What is the name of this process? What differentiated cell type is responsible?Explanation / Answer
1.Chlorophyll molecules arranged in the thylakoid membrane consist of two photosystem II and I. The light absorb by the chlorophyll transfer the light energy to the reaction center by resonance energy transfer. The reaction center of chlorophyll absorb light energy and transfer to other part of photosystem which leads to removal of the electron from the chlorophyll is an oxidation reaction. The chlorophyll gives a high energy electron to electron transport chain.
B. Non cyclic photosynthesis
C. Substrate level phosphorylation.
ATP is synthesis directly from substrate like phosphoenol pyruvate to pyruvate ATP is synthesis.
D. Water is the electron donor
