1. Symptoms of influenza:-
Pain in muscles
Dehydration
Chills
Fever
Body pain
Cough
Running nose or congestion in nose
Headache
Dyspnea
Sore throat etc.
2. No flu shot cannot be given in stomach flu because flu shot is given for influenza virus but stomach flu is caused by others causative agents.
3. Causative agents of stomach flu are:-
Viral causes include norovirus, rotavirus,astrovirus,sapovirus etc.
Bactrial causes are like E. Coli.,salmonella,shigella,campylobacter,yersinia ,vibrio etc.
Parasitic causes are:- giardia,cryptosporidium, entamoeba etc.
While cause of influenza is influenza virus.
4. A vaccine can be an antigen of a specific organism which is either live attenuated or killed ,it produces immune response in the body and antibidies are produced and memory cells are also formed so when actual infection occurs these memory cells recognise the antigen and antigen antibody reaction occurs.
Or a vaccine can be antibody to a particular antigen which neutralises the infection.
5. Upper respiratory infection is caused by virus or bacteria likestreptococcus aureus etc. . It produces symptoms of cold like runny nose, congestion,sneezing ,sore throat etc.
Prevention is to avoid contact with the infected person as it is an infectious disease.
Trearment is antibiotics, proper hydration and symptomatic treatment.
