Explanation / Answer

Blood calcium levels are regulated by both parathyroid and thyroid glands. Parathyroid gland secretes parathormone which helps in bone resorption, increasing the blood calcium levels. The follicle cells of thyroid produce calcitonin which reverses the action of parathyroid hormone. The calcitonin inhibits the osteoclasts and stimulates osteoblasts. Osteoclasts are involved in resorption of bone whereas osteoblasts aids in bone deposition. With inhibition of osteoclasts and stimulation of osteoblasts, blood calcium level is reduced to normal level.

So, going on to the question,

1. Follicle cells.

2. Inhibits osteoclasts and stimulates osteoblasts.

3. Increase.

4. Decrease.
