Question
The motion of an object is described by x(t) = 0.125 m sin(pi(t)/5). Find the position of the object at t = 2 seconds and the period of the motion.
NOTE: I have seen a question related to this with a change in just one number. When I did the math on the SIN portion of the math it was completely incorrect; no matter how many ways I did the operation, the number was incorrect, and therefore the answer was incorrect. PLEASE follow through on your math and make certain EVERY number in the problem is correct in order to get a correct overall answer.
Explanation / Answer
x(t) = 0.125*sin(t/5)
at t= 2 s
x(2) = 0.125*sin(*2/5) =
remember (*2/5) is in the radian. so if u r using calculator then set calculator for radian as angle.
x(2) = 0.125*0.951=0.1189 m
this is the position of the object at t= 2 s
x(t) = x0*sin(*t)
compare to this given equation and we get;
= /5
period of the motion, T = 2/ = 2/(/5) = 10 s
