Question
A little new to Physics and have been sturggling alot lately just needed some homework helpA farm truck moves due north with a constant velocity of 12.00 m/s on a limitless horizontal stretch of road. A boy riding on the back of the truck throws a can of soda upward and catches the projectile at the same location on the truck bed, but 10.0 m farther down the road.
(a) In the frame of reference of the truck, at what angle to the vertical does the boy throw the can?
(b) What is the initial speed of the can relative to the truck?
Explanation / Answer
relative to the truck the can didnt have any horizontal displacement. That means that can was thrown vertically up. now equation of motion: x=vt-gt^2/2, t=10/12=0.833 sec x=0 --> vt=gt^2 --> v=gt/2=4.083 m/sec
