Question

g2sehariós(the second is on the back) For both questions, please draw a sketch description why you expect your result, as well as why you wouldn't expect other results, and describe in words what you expect to happen. Include in your Remember to include ALL players!!! Make a prediction for the instance in which a Martian (or a cell biologist!).. 1. darkens the cell, injects into it superabundant pyruvate and ATP, and finally arranges a reducing mechanism that selectively reduces all NAD that the cell makes to NADH. What would happen and why? What would NOT happen and why?

Explanation / Answer

The consequences of the above mentioned conditions may be as follows :

1. When high concentration of pyruvate and ATP are present, the Glycolysis of the cell has to be reduced or stopped. Because pyruvate is produced by the Glycolytic pathway. ATP is produced in the cell by Glycolysis and Crebs cycle. So, the ATP is abundant there is no need of Glycolysis.

2. If NAD+ are reducted to NADH, NADH can supply protons to the ATP synthetase (Fo-F1particle). This high concentration of H+ ions leads to the rotation of the particles and formation of ATP from ADP.
