1. There are 36 people in the population out of which 2 are carrier of CF. Hence 2 out of 36 alleles are c. That is q.
q = 2/36. Therefore, q^2 (i.e cc alleles) = (2/36)^2 = 0.00308 i.e 0.308%. Hence 0.308% of the offsprings will have CF.
2. The population size on the island is too small compared to mainland. Hence the possibility of getting CF is more than that of mainland. It can be the other way round too. The percent just depends on how many recessive allele are present in the population. 0.308% > 0.03125%. Suppose the recessive alleles are less say 1. q^2 will be 0.077%, less than the previous case. Now if the population size is increased to 200 with 2 recessive alleles, q^2 becomes 0.01%. This is less than mainland percent. Hence the frequency of getting CF will lower with increasing population on the island and will be comparable to mainland.
