Question

I find this a really weird question please help =0

You are in an airplane flying over the ocean. How could you most accurately determine your distance from the water? Drop an object out the window and count how long it takes to hit the water. Use equations of kinematics to calculate distance. Stand on a scale and find the force of gravity on your mass. Then use Newton's law of gravitation to calculate your distance from the center of the Earth. Subtract this distance from the Earth's radius. Estimate the distance from your eye to your thumb and, using similar triangles, use this to find the distance to an object of known size on the ground. Not enough information.

Explanation / Answer

a. The airplane might not be flying exactly parallel to the sea level and hence the initial velocity of the stone drop cant be assumed 0 safely b. the difference in weights will be insignificant to be measured by the scale and the result would be inaccurate c. THE BEST OPTION. given that you can estimate the distance between thumb and eyes accurately.
