Question
The firing mechanism of a pinball machine consists of a plunger having a mass of 0.25 kg and spring constant of 300 N//m. When s = 0, the spring is at equilibrium. If the arm is pulled back such that s = 10 cm and released, determine the speed of the 0.3 kg pinball and plunger system just before the plunger strikes the stop (s = 0). Assume all surfaces of contact to be smooth and neglect the rolling motion of the ball. The ball moves horizontally. I would appreciate any help in solving this problem. I get confused I think with the ball because not sure how to calculate before and after basically in the Work -Energy Model, I dont know, any help please.Explanation / Answer
B.v = 3.30 m/s-Ans
