Question
A 4.00kg stone is tied to a thin, light wire wrapped around the outer edge of the uniform 9.00kg cylindrical pulley shown in the figure below (Figure 1) . The inner diameter of the pulley is 60.0cm , while the outer diameter is 1.00m . The system is released from rest, and there is no friction at the axle of the pulley.
I have found the answer for part A:
A) Find the acceleration of the stone. a=3.87 m/s^2
NEED HELP WITH-
B) Find the tension in the wire. T=?N
C) Find the angular acceleration of the pulley. a=?rad/s^2
Explanation / Answer
sorry, I saw the acceleration as upward but it is down so T=4*(9.8-3.87) =23.72 N T.r1=I.(alpha) => alpha=T.r1/I but we know T=23.7; r1=.5; I=m*reff^2 reff=.4 =>alpha=23.7*.5/4*.4*.4 =18.51 rad/sec2
