Question
Find equivalent resistance of resistor configuration
R1= 25 ohm R2= 20 ohm R3= 50 ohm
R4=85 ohm R5= 65 ohm R6= 60 ohm
R7= 75 ohm R8= 35 ohm
If above resistor configuration is connected across a 12-v battery, what is the current in R7?
What is the voltage across R4?
NOTE: I got a value of 114.3 IBC for the equivalent resistance but cannot figure out last two questions
Explanation / Answer
(a)R6 and R8 are in series R6+R8=95 ohm above combination is in parallel with R5 95*65/(95+65) =38.59375 ohm This is in series with R3 38.59375+50=88.59375 ohm ........(1) R1 and R2 are in parallel =>11.11 ohm above is in series with R4 =>96.11 ohm now 96.11 is in parallel with 88.59375 46.09972 ohm now this is in series with R7 no equivalent resistance is 121 ohm (approx) (b) Current across R7 is 12/121 =.099=0.1 A(approx) (c)Current across R4 is 0.1*88.59375/(96.11+88.59375) =0.048 A
