Patient presentation: A 59-year-old man complains of tight chest pressure and shortness of breath after lifting several boxes in his garage approximately 2 hours ago. He says he believes his heart is skipping beats. His medical history is significant for hypertension and cigarette smoking Physical examination: Weight: 240 lbs. Height: 5'8" Temperature: 37.2°C (99.ooF) Pulse: 55 beats/min Results of physical examination of the thorax Heart rate 55 beats/min and regular Lungs are clear to auscultation Procedures: Anterior posterior chest radiography was normal. EKG shows bradycardia with an increased PR interval and ST-segment elevation in multiple leads including the anterior leads, V1 and V2. Blood tests pending results.Explanation / Answer
Symptoms of pericarditis
Sharp Chest pain with shoulders, neck, or back pain which is worse with lying down or breathing deep. Fever weakness, shortness of breath.
