Question

We have seen in lecture that the universe is filled with radiation, characteristic of an (almost) perfect blackbody at a temperature of 2.725 Kelvins. Starting from the expression derived in Lecture 5 (slide 13), derive the frequency vmax at which this blackbody spectrum is maximum. Because this blackbody radiation permeates all of space, the overwhelming majority of the photons in the universe are at frequencies near Vmax. NOTE: You will need to solve a simple transcendental equation. That's easy to do using Matlab, by graphing both sides and zooming in on their intersection.
