Question
A solid sphere of radius 57 cm has a total pos- itive charge of 17.4 ?C uniformly distributed throughout its volume. a.)Calculate the magnitude of the electric field at the center of the sphere. b)Calculate the magnitude of the electric field 14.25 cm from the center of the sphere. c)Calculate the magnitude of the electric field 57 cm from the center of the sphere. d)Calculate the magnitude of the electric field 84.9 cm from the center of the sphere. I could find that for a E=o but it seems that the equation I'm using is wrong cause my answers for b c & d was wrongExplanation / Answer
a) at center E = 0 since no charge enclosed
b) q enclosed = 17.4 * (14.25/57)^3=0.272 uC
E = 9E9*0.272E-6/(14.25E-2)^2=120554 N/C
c) now all charge enclosed
E = 9E9*17.4E-6/(57E-2)^2=481994 N/C
d) 9E9*17.4E-6/(84.9E-2)^2=217258 N/C
