we apply the conservation of energy to get the following result as we used to do for earth

so the conservation involvws conservation of K.E +P.E

= 1/2mv^2 + [-GmM/2r] = 1/2m[[GM/r]^1/2]^2

fro this we get the velocity of the spacecraft and we can find the percentage change by finding the difference b/w the final and the initial values
