Question

(20 points) The battery information is listed in the following figure. (a) Please determine the current battery state-of-charge. (b) The current battery capacity is found to be 95mAh. Assume the current drain of · discharge remains the same, how long does it take to discharge the battery to almost empty (i.e., only 2.5% of maximum charge is left)? (e) The current battery capacity is found to be 95mAh. Assume the current drain of discharge remains the same and the charge rate is twice the current drain of discharge, how long does it take to charge the battery to almost full (ie, only 97.5% of maximum charge is attained)?

Explanation / Answer

Hello,
Please find the answer attached below. If the answer has helped you please give a thumbs up rating. Thank you and have a nice day!

(a) Current state of charge = (95mAh/1295mAh) * 100 = 7.33%

(b) 2.5% of max charge = 2.5% of 1295 = 32.38mAh

Amount of charge drained = 95 - 32.38 = 62.62mAh

Drain time = drained charge/drain current = 62.62mAh/717mA = 0.087 hours = 5.24 minutes

(c) 97.5% of max charge = 97.5% of 1295 = 1262.6mAh

Current disharge = 717mA and current charge = 2 * 717 mA

Total current charge = 2 * 717 mA - 717mA = 717mA

Amount of charge left to be gained = 1262.6 - 95 = 1167.6mAh

Time for charging = 1167.6/717 = 1.62 hours = 1 hour 37 minutes approx
