Experiment 7- Speed & Position Control 7.1 Aim Distinguish between different type of speed and Position control sensors. 7.2 Apparatus It consists of a front panel with test-points and silk screen printed electrical circuit diagram, divided into blocks forming the control chain. There are ten blocks with ten electrical circuits; these electrical circuits have precise functions inside the whole circuit The terminals for the connections to the different power voltages are: a voltage +12V, and a voltage -12V are necessary for the control section and a voltage +30V for the power section. There are two terminals (a red one and a black one) for the connection between the module the motor of the external unit and a 8-poles socket for the connector of the signals coming from the transducers of the external unit. All the electronic components of the module can easily be accessed from the rear side of the module: in fact it is sufficient to remove the screws of the plexiglass protection to operate directly on the circuit. The external unit consists of a permanent magnet DC motor, on whose axis a tacho-generator and a disc with transparent/opaque radial sectors are fitted, so that it can be used as speed "photoelectric transducer" when connected to a photo-transmitter/photo-receiver, while on the other side there is a moto-reducer which permits a strong drop of the rotating angular speed, a display system of the angular position and a potentiometer for detection of the same position.Explanation / Answer

there are so many static characterstics are there like: accurcy ,precision,range, span , linearity,drift , hysterisis , sensitivity etc.
in your experiment static characteristic i.e.linearity is uses
So the ability to produce the input characteristics aymmetrically is called linearity.
Or we can say that input is directly proportional to the output.
so the graph given is linear.
A) speed transducers
Their are so many instruments are there to measure the speed
A Tachogenerator is a device which either continusly indicates the value of rotary speed or continuosly displys a reading of average speed over ralidly operated short interval of time.
they are used to power taxometres to measure the spped of the motor , engine and other ratational devices.
Potentiometric angular position transducer In this case the angular moment is converted into a voltage.
An angular displacent from the null position results in a diffrential voltage output proportional to the amount which are opposite in phase. The angular measurent displacemnet may be measured in.magnitude and direction.
So the conclusion of this experiment is we can measure the rotational speed using tachogenerator and angular measurement using potentiometric angular transducer. By using the readings of these two exleriments we can find the static characteristics.
control system classification.
two main types of control system
1)closed loop control system(CLCS)
2)open loop control system.(OLCS)
first you have to understand the main differance between them .
In OLCS feedback element is absent where in CLCS feedback is presnt. Due to this feedback element error in the CLCS is less as compaired to the OLCS. So as error is less accuracy is more.
from the reading you will get the error and then you can comparied it.
So we can say that we have studied the CLCS & OLCS and find out the error and error in the CLCS is less than the OLCS.
