Question

Problem 3:

Determine the function that gives the response of a first order system with = 0.5 seconds and K = l to an impulse of strength 10 att-. The output is zero before the impulse. What is the function that predicts the response of the systemin Problem #3 if the input is 106(t-5)? The first order system of Problem #3 is subjected to the input 106(t-5), q (0)-0. Develop a Simulink program to predict the response of the system for the period 0st 5 seconds. Provide a Simulink block diagram and a copy of the output graph with your report. Some experimentation with type of integrator and integration interval (if fixed) might be in order.

Explanation / Answer

we know, for first order system,

C(s) = R(s)/(sT+1)

here R(s) = response,

in our question R(s)= impulse response

hence R(s) = 10

and T =time constant= 0.5

hence, Function C(s) = 10/(s*0.5+1)

C(s)=20/(s+2)

required function is C(s).
