Question
The figure below shows a distance vs. time graph of an object with three distinct regions: I, II, and III. Use this figure to answer the following question:
In which?region is the velocity of the moving object negative?
Region I
Region II
Region III
All regions
No regions The figure below shows a distance vs. time graph of an object with three distinct regions: I, II, and III. Use this figure to answer the following question: In which?region is the velocity of the moving object negative? ? Region I Region II Region III All regions No regions
Explanation / Answer
Like the other question, I can't view the figure. Not sure if it's just me or something from your side. But I can still try to help:
In a distance vs time graph, the velocity is the slope of the graph. Therefore, if the slope of the graph is negative, then the velocity is also negative. If you are not familiar with recognizing negative slopes, here are some exampes:
y = x^2 has a positive slope from x = - infinity to 0
y= -x always has a positive slope etc.
Once again, I can't see the figure. But using the methods I gave, you should be able to do so.
Hope that helps, cheers =) !
