One mole of a dilute gas initially has a pressure equal to 1.00 atm, and a volume equal to 21.0 L and an internal energy of 3.19 kJ. As the gas is slowly heated, the plot of its state on a PV diagram moves in a straight line to the final state . The gas now has a pressure equal to 2.00 atm, and a volume equal to 75.0 L, and an internal energy equal to 22.8 kJ. Find the work done by the gas. kJ Find the heat absorbed by the gas. kJ

Explanation / Answer

W = (75-21)*(1+2)/2

= 81 atm.ltr

= 101.324999971*81 J

= 8.207 KJ

Q= dU+W

= 22.8-3.19+8.207

= 27.817 KJ
