Question

The Q in the following picture. Please help me. the answer should be Mo=5.75 N-m (ccw)

The force makes an angle theta with the horizontal and applied lo the hand at point B. Point A represents the center of gravity of the persons lower arm and O is a point along the center of rotation of the elbow joint. Assume that points 0, A. and B and force F all lie on a plane surface. If the horizontal distance between point O and A is a = 15 cm, distance between point O and B is h 35 cm. total weight of the lower arm is W = 20 N, magnitude ol the applied force is F = 50 N, and angle theta = 30 degree determine the nel moment generated about O by F and W.

Explanation / Answer

Moment due to W

= -W * a

= -20 * 0.15

= -3 Nm

Moment due to F

= Fsin30 * b

= 50 * 0.50 * 0.35

= 8.75 m

Net moment = -3 + 8.75 = 5.75 Nm
