The right-hand cable had tension 630 N and makes an angle of theta1 with the ceiling. What is the angle theta1 which the righthand cable makes with respect to the ceiling? What is the angle theta which the left-hand cable makes with respect to the wall?

Since it is in equilibrium, we can resolve the components and equate.


630 cos(theta 1) = 540 cos(90-theta)


613 = 630cos(90-theta 1) + 540cos(theta)


by solving these two equations,


theta = 65.87 degrees


theta1 = 38.59 degrees
