Question
The following table contains currents/voltage pairs of points as determined from an experiment to verify Ohm's Law.
A) Use graph paper and plot these points as voltage vs current.
B) Does this device follow Ohm's Law and how do you know?
C) Determine the value of the resistor used in this circuit
Current(Amps) Voltage(V)
-0.227 -2.320
-0.180 -1.847
-0.070 -0.721
-0.022 -0.203
+0.054 +0.586
+0.126 +1.329
+0.185 +1.937
+0.258 +2.680
(these two columns should be separated)
Please help!!! I dont need the graph but Part B and C I need help with.
Explanation / Answer
if the device follows ohms law then Voltage divided by current = resistance must be constant for all reading. Calculate R for all reading
1- 10.220
2- 10.261
3- 10.300
4- 9.227
5- 10.852
6- 10.548
7- 10.470
8- 10.387
Since R calculated from these reading are very close to each other, we can consider the ohms law is followed, believing that the slight difference in results are due to measurement error.
To determine resistor, we consider the average resistor value i.e sum of all value of r divided by no of experiment
R= (10.220+10.261+10.300+ 9.227+10.852+10.548+10.470+10.387) / 8 = 10.283 ohms
