Question
This is a 4 part problem, but I figured out 3 of the 4. I cannot figure out the last one! I will provide you with everything!
Given the circuit shown below, the power supply is set to a voltage V=22.9 V, R2 = 38.1 ?, and R3 = 54.1 ?.
The image will not show, but there are three resistors in parallel with each other. R2 and R3 are across from each other, and R1 is right above both of them.
Suppose you place an ammeter into the circuit and find that the current through R2 is 0.227 A. Answer the following questions: What is the voltage across resistor R2?
8.64 V
What is the current through resistor R3?
0.160 A
What is the current flowing through R1?
0.386 A
What is the resistance of resistor R1?
I cannot figure this one out! I tried 22.9/0.386, which is the voltage divided by the current flowing through R1 and it;s still wrong. Can anyone help me out here?! I would appreciate it!
Explanation / Answer
Vr2 = (38.1)*(.227) =8.64V
Vr2 = R3*Ir3
Ir3 = 8.64/54.1 =.16A
Ir1 = Ir2 + Ir3 = .16+.227
Ir1 = .386A
R1 = (22.9-8.64) /Ir1 = 36.9 ohm
