Question
17. (4 points) The pn junction of a JFET is designed be operated with bias for maximum current flow and in bias for all other operating regions 18. (4 points) What are the likely operating regions of the following transistors (place your answer directly below each circuit)? Fywheel Diode Lamp 100kn Vout VCCi 12V Ras 0v R2 is a light sensitive resistor with a max. value of 100k in the dark (the resistance drops with an increase in light intensity). The potentiometer is set to 50k. Assume it is just dark enough for the gate voltage to be barely above threshold 19. (2 points) A JFET is on/off (select one) when no voltage is applied between the gate and the source (assume some voltage exists between the drain and source) (4 points) Why must care be taken if a small but positive voltage is applied to the gate of a n-channel JFET (be specific, including inside the device)? 20.Explanation / Answer
17 ))
A pn junction of JFET is designed to to be operated as forward bias for max current and in reverse bias for all other operating region.
Reason :- in forward bias the pn junction works like a diode and can allow any amount of current to flow through it . However it should be noted that it's not advisable to forward bias theme because it could damage the JFET. In reverse bias JFET controls the current flowing through it like a tap and shows large changes in current for small changes in voltage amd thereby acting like amplifier.
