Question

I am having trouble accepting the published answer to the question which is attached below the asked question. At the bottom of the page is my solution. Please identify my mistake. My mind goes haywire when the solution modifies the conservation of momentum equation to read : M_aV_a=M_aV'_a(M_aV'_a)

Thanks!

(II) A 0.450-kg hockey puck, moving east with a speed of 5.80 m/s. has a head-on collision with a 0.900-kg puck initially at rest. Assuming a perfectly elastic collision, what will be the speed and direction of each puck after the collision? Let A represent the 0.450-kg puck, and let B represent the 0.900-kg puck. The initial direction of puck A is the positive direction. We have A = 5.80 m/s and B = 0. Use Eq. 7-7 to obtain a relationship between the velocities. Substitute this relationship into the momentum conservation equation for the collision.

Explanation / Answer

in caluclation u did small mistake at last step bro 0.45*5.8=2.61(not 26.1) and similarly 0.9*5.8=5.22 (not 52.2),u did great but jst a small mistake!
