Question 18 Not yet answered Marked out of 2.00 Flag question The CIA has been using spy satellites to observe test procedures on a new Russian fighter aircraft, known to have a mass of 6000 kg, and aerodynamically, the new design is so fare vertical. During the initial trial run, it was observed to climb vertically at an initial speed of 300 m/s and with a constant acceleration of 4.52 m/s2. The engineering analysts observed it to climb vertically for 5500 meters. Calculate the aircraft's speed at the peak before breaking-off the climb (recommend using the work-energy theorem) Select one: a. 450 m/s b, 547 m/s c. 122 m/s d. 374 m/s e. 300 m/s O O

Explanation / Answer

Change in KE = total work done by net force

0.5 *mv2^2 - 0.5 mv1^2 = ma * h

0.5*v2^2 - 0.5*300^2 = 4.52*5500

0.5 v2^2 = 4.52*5500 + 0.5*300^2 = 69860

v2 = sqrt(69860/0.5) = 374 m/s answer

  option d
