A.Increased atmospheric pollution with aerosol particles
B.increased evaporation from land surfaces
C.increased use of pesticides
D. Global warming
Explanation / Answer
The increase in the amount of aerosol particles in Earth’s atmosphere (mostly due to human action) has resulted in global dimming which in turn interfere with the hydrological cycle on Earth by reducing the rate of evaporation.
Aerosols particles reflect sunlight and absorb solar energy. These particles also serve as nuclei for water drops in clouds. Increased aerosol particles result in clouds with more number of smaller drops. These smaller drops of aerosol and water make clouds more reflective. Therefore, incoming sunlight from the sun gets reflected back into space and hence very less sunlight reaches the surface of Earth. It results in global dimming and reduced evaporation rate.
Therefore, option (A) is correct.
