Question

I am standing dozens of miles away from a volcano, watching the opening stages of an eruption through a pair of binoculars. I am seeing a large plume of steam forming near the crater. Over the course of a few hours, the northeast side of the steep-sided cone begins to bulge, and there have been two very small (but noticeable) tremors. I know that I should get to high ground to avoid the pyroclastic flow and lateral blast that is sure to result from the eruption. Thankfully, the resort I am staying at on the island of Hawaii has an evacuation plan for guests, and is now setting that plan in motion. Their plan is to move us to higher ground on the northeast side of the island (the volcano is on the southwest section). What is wrong with this passage? Explain your answer thoroughly

Explanation / Answer

When we read the passage, it is clear that the north east side of the cone getting high pressure and getting bulge. This situation shows the seriousness of the east side of the cone. Left side is the southwest side to the island at which volcano is located and right side is the northeast section. Hence, the direction of eruption will be from northeast side that is southwest to the island towards the right direction that is northeast to the island. Since the people were kept at northeast side, they have more chances to suffer from erruption effect. Thus, they should not be shifted to that location.
