Question

if R1 = 350 Ohm, R2 = 200 Ohm, R3 = 250 Ohm and V = 12 V in a series circuit, what is the current through the 200 Ohm resistor (in Amp)?

If R1 = 350 Ohm, R2 = 200 Ohm, R3 = 250 Ohm and V = 12 V in a parallel circuit, what is the total current in Amp?

If R1 = 350 Ohm, R2 = 200 Ohm, R3 = 250 Ohm and V = 12 V in a parallel circuit, what is the voltage across the 200 Ohm resistor (in volts)?

Explanation / Answer

Case 1:

Sireies circuit

So Req = R1 + R2 + R3 = 800 ohm

Current will be same through all the register

So I = V / Req = 12/800 = 0.015A

Case 2:

Total current in the parrallel circuit(Voltage will be same across all the registers)

Ieq = I1+ I2 + I3 = V/R1 + V/R2 + V/R3

= 12/350 + 12/200 + 12/250 = 0.1423A

Case 3:

In parrallel circuit Voltage is same across all the registers

So V200 = V0 = 12V

Case 4:

Current through 200ohm resistor in parrallel circuit

I200 = V200/200 = 12/200 = 0.06A
