Question
Reflect on what you learned about the scientific method earlier this semester and your thoughts on the process of science now that you have designed your own study. What did you interpret "science" to be when you started this semester? If your concepts of science and scientific experiments have changed over the course of the semester and from doing this experiment, how do you now interpret the process of science? Reflect on what you learned about ecological populations earlier this semester. How did this project help you better understand ecology?Explanation / Answer
Ecology is basically concerned with four levels of biological organization- organisms, population, communities and biomes. In this chapter we explore ecology at organismic and population levels.
Ecology at the organisms level is essentially physiological ecology which tries to understand how different organisms are adapted to their environments in terms of not only survival but also reproduction. You may have learnt in earlier classes how the rotation of our planet around the sun and the tilt of its axis cause annual variations in the intensity and duration of temperature, resulting in distinct seasons.
