The 18 US Code - 1030 clearly explains the prohibitions under The Counterfeit Access Device and Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1984 with respect to the computer crimes.

Under part (2), in clause (A), it clearly mentions that whoever intentionally obtains access to a computer system which is not authorized and collects financial or credit information protected under federal privacy law is covered crimes as per the Act.
