1. The main greenhouse gases evolved during construction and operation of pavements are: carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. The maximum carbon dioxide is emitted during preparation of raw maaterials used for construction and laying down of asphalt.

b. carbonation: burying concrete reduces emissions

c. vehicle fuel consumption: well tuned cars, oil and air filter, tyre maintainance
