Explanation / Answer
Improvements achieved since the enactment of the Clean Air Act of 1970-
1.six key air pollutants decreased by 54% between 1980 and 2008
2.US children between the ages 1-5 dropped lead blood levels from 85% to 1% between 1976 and 2006
Clean Air Act programs have lowered levels of six common pollutants -- particles, ozone, lead, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide -- as well as numerous toxic pollutants.so these pollutants are decreasing rapidly within this time span. From 1970 to 2014, aggregate national emissions of the six common pollutants alone dropped an average of 69 percent while gross domestic product grew by 238 percent. This progress reflects on the citizens also. US children who were suffering from various diseases generated from these pollutants(mainly lead) has dropped drastically. another achievement of this clean air act is also limiting the pollution level.pollution levels between 1980 and 2008 have increased slightly even though population, vehicle miles driven, and energy consumption have all increased.
