Laboratory 1
Rocks and Minerals Lab Exercises
There are two (2) parts of this Lab. The first involves identifying ten minerals. The second involves identifying ten rocks.
Do both parts.
1. Identify the minerals provided, according to the images provided (the references such as “p1” refer to specific images located on the Blackboard Content system, accessible to students in this course) and the information as provided. Fill in all blank cells in all columns; filling them in will solidify your identification of the mineral. (For the needed information, consult the Georgia Perimeter College website, or Mindat.org.) Finally, fill in the last column, the mineral name.

2. Identify the igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks provided in the images by placing the name in the last column to the right. As you make your inspection of the images, fill in the texture column. Consult the list of unknowns. After you decide on the name of the rock, fill in the remaining columns on minerals present, and rock category (igneous, metamorphic, or sedimentary). Finally, fill in the name of the rock.

Explanation / Answer
First part of the question can be answered where as the second part of the question to name the rock without having an look would won't be possible so now let us procide with the first part of the question i.e., naming the minerals with the given characters.
