Question
Describe the Coriolis Effect and how it influences the movement of air masses and water currents in both the northern and southern hemispheres.
Answer: The Coriolis Effect is caused by the rotation of the earth and it appears to deflect moving air masses and water to the right in the northern hemisphere and to the left in the southern hemisphere.
So I answered the first part. The second part goes like this,
And explain how this movement of air masses and water currents might affect climate in a particular region??
Explanation / Answer
Ocean currents are powered by the movement of wind over the water surface, Coriolis effect also affect the movement of current and cyclones.Ocean’s currents moving around warm, high pressure areas are called gyres. Any deflection in Coriolis effect causes an spiraling pattern in gyres. This spiraling wind can lead in the development of hurricane, Coriolis effect helps in gaining energy and increase the strength of hurricane. This how the movement of air masses and water currents effect the climate of a particular region.
