Question
The modern electrical world probably begins August 26, 1895, when water flowing over Niagara Falls was diverted through high-speed turbines that were coupled to two 5,000-horsepower generators. The following year electricity was transmitted twenty miles by wire to the city of Buffalo, where it was used for lighting and street cars. And so the electric age started, but it wasn’t until the 1920s and the rise of radio that most of the country enjoyed this new power source.
And here we are 100 years later and electricity has become the life blood of our world. Virtually every aspect of our lives is touched by and controlled by the fact that electrons flow. But what happens if that is no longer true. As we become more technologically advanced, we also become more vulnerable and dependent on electricity and the tools and gadgets it provides for us.
In the 1800s no one was concerned about the presence or absence of electricity. In the 21st century society would be under considerable stress without it. Could this happen - well we hope not, but there are two elements – one; natural CMEs, and one man made – EMP from nuclear explosions which could disrupt the flow of electrons.
3. Thoughtfully, write an account of a typical day in your life, in September of 2016, without the presence of electricity. How life would like without electricity? Would the world founction without electricity well or not? How would people react if we loss electricy? How would it be different?
Explanation / Answer
Recently due to electrical department strike we didn’t have power one day. Really we faced lot of problems. We don’t have generator in our house. Even after completion of my mobile charging I went to neighbor’s house who are already having inverter in their home and charged my phone. That next day only I purchased power bank for my mobile and Inverter for my house. Without electricity no news, no updates I was not able to chat with friends. Even I was not able to sleep well also.
LIFE WITHOUT ELECTRICITY
Massive die-off. This could not happen. Our civilization cannot continue as it is without electricity. All of the people living in the urban and suburban areas would run out of food in short order. They'd flee to the rural areas. Most would die on the way. The rural areas depend on electricity as much as the urban areas for food, water, fuel, etc., but would also succumb.
Imagine life without electricity, not just a brief power outage. We all know how inconvenient life becomes when our electricity is out for only a few hours. How hard it is to remember for that short period of time that the light switch will not produce instant light, the hair dryer will not immediately blow dry our hair, or that we can't even run water into our homes. Our homes and lives have become so dependent on electricity it is really hard to imagine everything that would change without it.
Now, I wonder what our ancestors did for entertainment. There were no movie theaters, televisions, CD players, or computers. Perhaps being without instant entertainment was why so many people learned to play musical instruments.
Families were usually larger in the number of children and they often could have their own "backyard band." They would often invite neighbors to gather for music and perhaps a dance. Possibly the invention of electricity has caused us to be less creative. I'm sure trying to imagine life without electricity is as difficult for us as would have been for our great-great grandparents to imagine life with electricity. Try to imagine how technology will change our lives in the next fifty years. I wonder if the change will be as significant and life changing as the invention of electricity.
World functioning without electricity is so difficulty. Some of the examples below.
You don't have lights, A/C/heater don’t work. No computer, you can't charge your cell, refrigerator/freezer don't work, food goes bad. The only thing you can get is water until the water service shuts down too. You probably have to go out to eat and have a place with A/C. Oh wait no electricity. Restaurants, homes, some buildings ATM's won't work. You can't stay in your home all the time and you can't go to other places either, you don't have money, because the ATM's or banks are closed. You can't work without power for computers, lights, A/C heaters. No work, no money.
